As I'm trying to dive into comics and establish myself as an illustrator who creates comics... I thought it was really important to apply for Thought Bubble 2023 and get my comics seen! I enjoy visiting the festival each year and I know that my work would be suitable for that audience. So I used my industry contact (shout out to Chloe Green) to ask about what they look for in applications. Apparently they just really need to see sequential art, professionalism and it would be good to drop in that I'm a student at LAU.
So I selected a few pieces of work (luckily my most recent work is all comic related) and submitted a PDF along with my social links so that is it easier for them to see it all - rather than trawling through the various sites. I made use of my new/updated branding, so I'm crossing my fingers and am quietly confident.
