Novels with Illustrations

After our interim presentations, my goal was to find other books that fit the parameters of my intentions - some sort of graphic novel hybrid. I know that my novel will probably be quite text heavy with some illustrated pages.

Initially I was just looking at graphic novels, but couldn't really find anything that fit what I envisioned. So I decided to widen my search and came across a really beautiful edition of How's Moving Castle on the Folio Society: https://www.foliosociety.com/uk/howl-s-moving-castle.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwh4ObBhAzEiwAHzZYUz0msukjOV3Uxp0jWAAp-2n2XWcja7CD5UfYE7DxW2dSbW8mzd-nWxoC1W8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Howl’s Moving Castle

Diana Wynne Jones

Illustrated by Marie-Alice Harel

Introduced by Marcus Sedgwick

After widening my search to illustrated novels, rather than specifically "graphic novels", I feel reassured that there is a space in the market for my idea. Producing an illustrated novel will give me the opportunity to really explore the visuals of the world I write, have fun with the cover illustration and insert some fun pages in between chapters that might give further insight into the characters/world.

This example of Howl's Moving Castle is a special edition release of the novel, possibly exclusive to The Folio Society. This will be important to remember as I begin to think about where my work will exist and who the audience will be. It looks like The Folio Society only publish special editions of "classic" fiction/non-fiction books, so they aren't appropriate for my work.
