I really like the mixture of the heavy text and the large, detailed illustrations. I think it helps with the pacing of the story, as a reader will have to pause to take in the illustrations and explore every detail. These images help to establish the world and characters, as well as set the tone for the oncoming pages. They allow the reader to fill in parts of the narrative, without using just words.

It looks like the audience for this book ranges from Young Adult to Children, depending where it is found. I think that my story will be more aimed towards Young Adult/New Adult, as I will be exploring some slightly more mature themes/plots, so I'd like to see if there are any other books occupying that space with illustrations.
