To try and get a better feel for the main character of my story, I began drawing her (digitally). I find this process a lot smoother than just using traditional mediums (or in my sketchbook). I really liked these initial renditions of her and felt like I'd started to tap in to her personal style. In my initial mood board, I knew that I wanted Selene to be quite "trendy" and have an alternative style.
However, when I looked back at my sketchbook, I realised I'd drawn her without bangs! I think this changed up her "look" quite a lot.
I've started to outline a few parts of her personality. She's quite moody, but always has a smile for her cat/familiar (Salem - appropriately named after my own cat), has tattoos and can always be found wearing chunky boots.
I'm working on creating a character board and gathering inspiration for her personal style. This is to help me visualise her, but also so that I can show her to others for formative feedback.
