SWOT Analysis

This SWOT analysis was based on the portfolio of work I submitted for 701. The purpose was to discuss with peers and identify the strengths and weaknesses of my work, so that I know what I can improve on over the next few weeks.

What area of illustration are you interested in tapping into?
- Authorial illustration. I want to write and illustrate my own stories.

Strengths:

- Clear idea and well researched (referring to graphic novel project)

- Cohesive colour scheme / brand

- Well developed characters

Weaknesses:

- Very digital at the moment - there's lots of room for more experimentation and pushing myself out of my comfort zone

Opportunities:

- Show characters in context - work on fully rendering some of the illustrations for my book

- Draw the world in which my book is set

Threats/Obstacles:

- Very ambitious

- Will require consistent good time management

This exercise was useful as it helped me to ground my practice a little. Hearing peer feedback on my presentation skills was reassuring, and they raises some very important points about the ambition of my project. I have a lot of ideas I want to explore, so time management will be fundamental to getting everything done in a way that I am satisfied with. I also want to make sure I don't get too distracted with ideas that ultimately won't bring me any closer to my end goal.
