Tamaki, J. and Tamaki, M. (2014) This one summer. New York, NY: First second.
I wanted to make a note of this book because I really loved the visuals. The panels are all single colour (or monochrome) and make use of texutes/half tones etc for tonal variations. The drawings are somewhat simple, but also detailed enough that the scenes feel real - like somewhere I've been before.
Using a full page illustration across a double page is a really interesting way of pacing the story. For me, it made me slow down and it felt like an audio/sensory experience. It makes the story feel much more immersive.
