During one of the sessions, the task was to draw objects/spaces using given prompts. Some of the prompts included things like "something that makes a noise", whilst others were simply a close up of an object.
In order to keep it related to my main project work, I chose the following objects:
- A skull shaped candle
- Tarot Cards
- Crystals
However I also chose to observe the space around me and draw snippets of that.
The drawings were quick, so I didn't linger too long on the details. I tried to focus on capturing the shape or perspective where possible. Then I cut out the images I thought I could create a narrative from, and put them into a dummy zine.
The purpose of this task was to show us that we don't need a lot of resources in order to create a short narrative / zine. Overthinking my work tends to be one of my weak points, so I just focused on making something that worked in short form. I enjoyed the creative writing aspect of this too. Coming up with some content in a short period of time was a really useful exercise.
