I feel like my feedback session blew my project wide open - in a good way. I have identified that I would like to research the intersectionality of witchcraft, the coven and how the recent resurgence might be a result of contemporary socio/political issues. I'd like this to be a theme within my novel, so to begin I will start researching the following:
- The history of witchcraft/paganism/wicca in various cultures
- Modern witchcraft (real people/interviews/what does it mean?)
- Intersectionality; primarily feminism (although I feel well versed in it, it's always good to deepen my understanding)
In my sketchbook, I want to explore more processes/tools that push me out of my comfort zone. This includes;
- Painting
- Drawing scenes
- Loose line drawings
- Character expressions
- All of the above with limited colour or full colour explorations
Much of my character & world development is based on the academic research I will be doing, so that will be my first priority. I am giving myself until mid November to get the groundwork of this done and really nail who the characters are. Luckily I have a vague idea, but I feel that they need some more solid research/depth.
By the 20th November I would like to have 1 complete chapter of my story and 3 detailed character boards.
