Visual Journal - 100 Heads Challenge

 To begin my visual journal, I've decided to start doing the "100 Heads Challenge". The point of the challenge is to draw 100 heads, in 10 days in order to practice various expressions and facial shapes. I have pulled together a Pinterest board of 100 portraits to use as reference here. I have chosen to do this challenge as a starting point because I know that I need to design some characters for my project. Drawing different faces from reference will give me a broader resource to craft believable characters and expressions.

My first 10 heads weren't particularly successful. I used a mechanical pencil which has printed across the page. I struggled to capture the likeness of each face in a way that I was happy with, so this is something I'd like to work on. I will also be using a different material for each set of 10 to see if this can improve the results. I found myself getting too stuck in the details with this pencil, so perhaps using larger tools to make marks will help me focus on conveying the shapes that I see.
